There is a new legislation that will affect ALL landlords with gas in their properties. Its takes effect as of the 10th October 2015. This legislation means that Landlords will be required by law to install working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their properties under measures announced by Housing Minister Brandon Lewis. This means that once your gas safety is due to expire you will required to additionally install both these alarms if they are not already in place.
If we manage your property we can organise the gas safety for you with one of our preferred suppliers and ensure your property falls in line with this legislation and that a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm is fitted. Even if you are just using our rent collection service, we will also install the units as required on the next due date if you let us know that you would like this done.
Please note that if you have a British Gas policy, we are still waiting for them to confirm how they will be bringing all of their properties in line with the legislation. If however you would like us to arrange the alarms for you to ensure it is in line with the law then just let us know.
